Derek Murray joined the BasketballNews.com team in 2020 and currently serves as a Scouting Advisor.

Prior to BasketballNews.com, Derek worked at Sports Info Solutions as a Basketball Ops Senior Analyst, where he collected, analyzed and prepared statistical and analytical data from amateur and professional basketball games. At Sports Info Solutions, he and his team conduct detailed evaluations of players and games, recording everything from basic shot tracking to advanced basketball IQ measurements. He also spent four years with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Season Ticket Retention Department, where he managed over 350 individual and corporate clients.

Derek entered the world of talent evaluation in 2017, having served as a scout for the Professional Basketball Combine and running his own website, The Blueprint NBA. He has evaluated players at NBA Summer League, the G League Showcase and the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament. He has consulted for various professional basketball agencies and has been published on NetScouts Basketball and Eurobasket.

In 2015, Derek graduated from Lee University, in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he was named a "Young Entrepreneur" and earned a degree in Business Administration. 

Derek currently resides in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma with his wife Katherine.
