Doncic, Tatum earn NBA Player of the Week honors for Jan. 4-10

The NBA announced its Player of the Week in each conference for Jan. 4 to Jan. 10 on Monday afternoon.

Leading the Dallas Mavericks to three-straight wins (as well as victories in four of the last five games), Luka Doncic earned the honor in the Western Conference. The Slovenian sensation averaged a triple-double this past week, posting 30.3 points, 12 rebounds and 11.3 assists per game. He had a masterful night on the road against the Denver Nuggets where he scored 38 and dished out 13 assists to go with 5 steals in a Mavs overtime victory.

Before testing positive for COVID-19 and hitting the health-and-safety-protocol list, Jayson Tatum took last week by storm, earning the honors for the Eastern Conference. The Boston Celtics went 3-0 behind Tatum's 33 points per game, and saw the fourth-year superstar knock down clutch shot after clutch shot with his partner Jaylen Brown. Tatum hit an astounding 52 percent of his triple tries during this stretch.

Here were the other nominees for Player of the Week in each conference.

West: DeMar DeRozan (SAS), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (OKC), LeBron James (LAL), Nikola Jokić (DEN) and CJ McCollum (POR)

East: LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward (CHA), Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis (IND), Andre Drummond (CLE), Zach LaVine (CHI), Tyrese Maxey (PHI) and Khris Middleton (MIL)
