One day after the Brooklyn Nets announced his return as a part-time player, Kyrie Irving has already landed in the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The team announced on Saturday afternoon that Irving became the ninth Nets player to land in COVID-related protocols, which continues to ravage rosters league-wide.

Irving was brought back on a part-time basis as an unvaccinated player because of the issues Brooklyn was dealing with due to COVID-19. Now, Irving will be unable to join the team for an extended period of time.

According to Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News, Irving returned a positive or inconclusive COVID-19 test, which is why he was added to the health and safety protocols. 

All season long, the Nets have been unable to see their superstar trio of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Irving in action. Now, all three are together in health and safety protocols.
