This isn't a surprise, given the money that Wall is owed. If he was willing to leave money on the table to change teams, he likely would've agreed to a buyout with the Rockets last season.
Wall showed flashes of his immense talent during the 2020-21 season, averaging 20.6 points and 6.9 assists for Houston, but he hasn't set foot on an NBA court since April of 2021.
After opting in, Wall will be on an expiring contract, which will make it far easier for Houston to trade him. At 31 years old, Wall can still help a team if he gets an opportunity and can stay healthy.
