Wolves part ways with president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas

The Minnesota Timberwolves have parted ways with president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas, the team announced today.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Sachin Gupta is set to take over the position on an interim basis while the team conducts a search for a permanent replacement.

According to reports from Dane Moore of the Dane Moore Podcast of the Dane Moore Podcast and Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, the new ownership group of Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez have candidates in mind for the team's front office moving forward. Moore insists that Gupta is an option internally, though Minnesota would like to land a "top five" candidate to run basketball operations. Fischer suggests that the organization is fond of Philadelphia 76ers general manager Elton Brand.

This is a stunning move at the top of the Wolves' front office. Rosas had spent just two full seasons with Minnesota, where he oversaw the Andrew Wiggins-D'Angelo Russell trade and the selection of Anthony Edwards with the 2020 No. 1 overall pick. It is unclear if the Timberwolves have a replacement lined up.

Minnesota is in the midst of an ownership change, with Lore Alex Rodriguez in line to take the franchise from Glen Taylor in the coming years.
