NBA is likely to release its 2020-2021 schedule in halves to allow for flexibility and the play-in tournament remains a significant part of the league's plans for next season, sources said.

ANALYSIS: Due to the uncertainty of how things will progress with COVID-19 in the United States, the NBA will continue to proceed with caution. Releasing the schedule into two halves will give the league more time to adjust the schedule if needed. And the play-in tournament was one of the few things that came from the bubble that fans and players seemed to enjoy. So Adam Silver and the players union will try to work out specifics on bringing the play-in tournament back next year as it brought tremendous excitement to the league.
