Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard has been honored with the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2024–25 season, recognizing his significant contributions off the bench.​

In his fifth season with the Celtics, Pritchard played in 80 games, starting only three, and averaged career highs of 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. He led all NBA reserves with 1,079 total points and set a new league record by making 246 three-pointers as a reserve, shooting 40.7% from beyond the arc. 

Pritchard received 82 out of 100 first-place votes from a global media panel, totaling 454 points. He outpaced Detroit Pistons' Malik Beasley, who finished second with 279 points and 13 first-place votes, and Ty Jerome of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who placed third with 91 points and two first-place votes. 

This accolade places Pritchard among notable Celtics who have won the Sixth Man of the Year award, including Kevin McHale, Bill Walton, and Malcolm Brogdon. 

Pritchard's recognition as Sixth Man of the Year underscores his dedication and adaptability, solidifying his role as a vital component in the Celtics' pursuit of consecutive championships.​
