Davis suffered the injury in the first half of their win on Friday against the Denver Nuggets.
The 29-year-old was having one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists on 59.3% shooting from the field.
The Lakers began the season at 2-10, but have started to put it together, winning 10 of their last 16 games.
Now, the team – currently the 12th seed in the NBA's Western Conference – will have to make due without their star big man for an extended period of time.
