The Cleveland Cavaliers are signing free agent forward Marcus Morris to a 10-day contract, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
The 6-foot-9 forward started this season with the Los Angeles Clippers but eventually got traded to the Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs. However, Morris did not play a game for the Spurs and reportedly agreed to a contract buyout, paving the way for him to sign with the Cavs.
Cleveland, the current third seed in the Eastern Conference with a 42-25 record, adds Morris to shore up their frontcourt rotation. Starting forward Evan Mobley has been out since March 12 due to a foot injury, while forwards Max Strus and Dean Wade have also been dealing with injuries.
According to Charania, Morris is expected to be available for Monday's game against the Indiana Pacers and he will be playoff-eligible.
Over his 14-year NBA career, Morris has averaged 12 points a game while shooting over 37% from three. The 34-year-old will provide a veteran presence while adding scoring and shooting to a young and contending Cavaliers team.
