The Celtics announced today that they will retire the No. 5 jersey worn by Kevin Garnett on March 13 when they face the Dallas Mavericks.

Garnett helped the franchise win its most recent NBA championship in 2007-08. He spent six seasons with the Celtics, averaging 15.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game in those years. WIth Boston, Garnett earned four All-Star berths and won Defensive Player of the Year during that 2007-08 championship season.
