Detroit has also had key free agent signings that brought veteran presence in the locker room in Malik Beasley, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Tobias Harris. They have also picked up vet PG Dennis Schroder in a trade to help Cunningham with the ball-handling duties. Everything that Detroit has done was in order to come back and see this moment &ndash; to be back in the playoffs. It&rsquo;s not just that Detroit is winning &mdash; it&rsquo;s how they&rsquo;re doing it: through defense, selflessness, and maturity. His midrange game has been clinical, and he&rsquo;s elevated his play on both ends as the postseason approaches. But perhaps the most shocking resurgence came from James Harden, who has turned back the clock and delivered one of his most efficient seasons in years. Harden has assumed full command of the offense, orchestrating everything with poise and flair while re-establishing himself as a top-tier guard in the league that could possibly fetch an All-NBA plum.

Brooklyn Nets point guard Dennis Schroder will find his new home in the Bay Area after the Golden State Warriors traded for him in exchange for De&rsquo;Anthony Melton.
According to a report from ESPN&rsquo;s Shams Charania, Schroder and a 2nd round pick from the Nets are headed to the Warriors in exchange for Melton and three 2nd round picks.
Schroder has been productive for Brooklyn this season, averaging 18.4 points and 6.6 assists in 33.6 minutes played per game. He has helped the supposed-to-be tanking Nets team to a level of relevance and respect this year with a 10-15 record with just 4 games back from the 6th seed.
Schroder provides the extra scorer the Warriors need behind superstar Stephen Curry, who&rsquo;s trekking the season without a bonafide second star.
The Warriors made the move by sending out Melton, who tore his left ACL last month and is expected to be out the entire season.&nbsp;
Melton was playing well for Golden State, bringing in secondary ball-handling, shooting, and point-of-attack defense next to Curry in the backcourt.
"[It] changed everything," Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said. "De'Anthony was a guy who could help get us organized offensively as a secondary ball handler, pick-and-roll guy, but also be an on-ball defender, spot-up shooter. We're mixing and matching around his absence for sure.

Serbia lost the semifinal game to the USA by just 4 points after leading for a staggering 35 minutes throughout the game. The Serbians vented their ire against Germany, the team they lost to in the FIBA World Cup championship game. That was without three-time NBA MVP for Serbia though, and this time with Jokic around, he was the difference against the Germans.&nbsp;
Jokic was brilliant from start to finish, collecting a triple-double stat line of 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. NBA players Bogdan Bogdanovic and Vasilje Micic added 19 and 16 points respectively as Serbia dominated Germany thoroughly.&nbsp;
Franz Wagner led the fightback for the Germans with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists while Moritz Wagner and Dennis Schroder added 16 and 13 points of their own.&nbsp;
Germany closes their summer 4th place &ndash; a huge achievement following their first-ever appearance at an Olympic semifinal. They are already the world champions and having yet another experience at high-stakes basketball only gives Germany the necessary experience needed to medal at the next version of the Games.
For Serbia, this is a redemption from their silver medal finish in the FIBA World Cup and after failing to finish on the podium in Tokyo 2020. Serbia already finished in 2nd place in 2016 against Team USA, and this bronze cements their place as one of the top basketball nations in the world.

France gave everything they could in front of the home crowd in Paris and they delivered after overcoming reigning world champions Germany, 73-69, at the Bercy Arena in Paris, France for the 2024 Paris Olympics.&nbsp;
France once again fed off the energy from the loud crowd in Paris to eke out a win against a favored opponent for the second straight game. France notably defeated Canada who were filled with legit NBA talent from top to bottom in the quarterfinals, and now they beat the reigning world champions in Germany.&nbsp;
France started strong yet again with Guerschon Yabusele starting over Rudy Gobert. Yabusele provided the physicality inside to power through Germany&rsquo;s frontline en route to scoring 17 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Isaia Cordinier, who also stepped up in the knockout rounds for France, backed him up with 16 points of his own
French phenom Victor Wembanyama struggled for a second straight game offensively with just 11 points on 4/17 shooting but he did have 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks.
Dennis Schroder once again led the world champs&rsquo; attack with 18 points but he shot just 6/18 from the field and missed one crucial free throw at the end that would have cut the lead to just one. Franz Wagner, who was the Germans&rsquo; leading scorer against Canada with 26 points, only scored 10 points against a tough and tall French frontline.
France will now await the winner of the USA-Serbia matchup for their opponents in the gold medal match.

Reigning World champion Germany and hosts France will square off once again but this time in a bigger stage as the heavyweight matchup draws another chapter in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.&nbsp;
The Germans and the French have faced each other in the group stage over at Group B where Germany won handily, 85-71. NBA duo Franz Wagner and Dennis Schroder led the way for Germany as they stifled a France team eager to play in front of their home fans in Lille. The Germans punished the French on both ends of the floor in that game, capitalizing on misses and converting on easy transition points in the fastbreak.&nbsp;
That led to Germany finishing first in the group and facing Greece in the quarterfinals, winning 76-63. France ended up taking second in the group and matched up against a tougher Canada side with an NBA-laden roster. However, with the help of an active and energetic crowd in Paris, France rode the momentum to upset the Canadians 82-73 and set up a rematch against Germany.

Much is to be said for the highly-touted French phenom, but he absolutely cannot play like he did against Canada if France wants to win vs the reigning world champions. That said, it can be expected Wemby bounces back big-time one way or another.&nbsp;

Reigning world champion Germany ousted Greece in a wild comeback to win 76-63 and advance to their first-ever Olympics semifinals at the Bercy Arena in Paris, France.
After falling behind early in the 1st quarter, Germany used their familiarity and chemistry with each other to chip back into the lead. Led by FIBA MVP Dennis Schroder and rising NBA star Franz Wagner, the Germans closed the gap by halftime and eventually took the lead in the 3rd quarter to take control until the end of the game.&nbsp;
Wagner had 18 points to lead Germany while Schroder added 13 as they now await the other semi final pairing in France vs Canada for their opponent in the semis. Giannis Antetokounmpo had yet another brilliant performance for the Greeks by having 22 points on 9/14 shooting, but it was not enough against the world champs and their vaunted team chemistry that was built for months and years.&nbsp;
Greece leaned on their three-point shooting early to stifle Germany, as the latter could not hit their shots early on, leading to the early deficit.&nbsp;
However, Germany locked in on defense from the second quarter and beyond which allowed them to leak out for easy baskets to get their rhythm and in turn make their shots on offense. This allowed Germany to put on the run and never looked back from that point on.

Team USA enters this matchup as humongous favorites but make no mistake: Brazil will not come into the game just to hand the win over to their North American neighbors. Reigning World Champions Germany showed what they&rsquo;re made of after beating host team France, 85-71, to take Group B&rsquo;s top spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics basketball tournament in Lille, France.&nbsp;
Germany showed France why they won the FIBA World Cup last year and became world champions in a masterclass performance. The Germans outplayed the French in virtually every facet of the game, including rebounds, assists, steals, points off turnovers, and points in the paint.&nbsp;
Germany erected a lead as high as 24 points, 57-33, as they poured it on in the third. Rising NBA star Franz Wagner had a huge highlight when he slammed over three French defenders, drawing ohs and ahs from the crowd and his teammates alike. France had no answers to Germany&rsquo;s attack with point guard Dennis Schroder surgically operating France&rsquo;s vaunted twin tower defense Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert.
France found some life in the 4th quarter behind unsung bench hero Isaia Cordinier scoring 10 huge points, including crowd-hyping dunks and show-stopping hustle plays. The French cut the lead to just 10 points until Schroder and Isaac Bonga settled things down for Germany to take the victory.&nbsp;
Wagner and Schroder were incredible for the World Champions, both scoring 26 points to lead the Germans&rsquo; attack. Meanwhile, French phenom Wembanyama once again led the team with 14 points and 12 rebounds, however, he had crucial turnovers that led to momentum-shifting plays for Germany.&nbsp;
With the win, Germany will end up 1st in Group B while France finishes second. Germany will now face Greece in the quarterfinals while France will draw Canada in another heavyweight matchup for the hosts.

Day 2 of the Paris 2024 Olympics playdate for its basketball tournament saw teams having contrast results in their pursuit of a quarter finals berth. Here&rsquo;s how the games went:
Spain 84, Greece 77
Spain shocked Greece and the whole world with their huge win despite being huge underdogs. The Spaniards stole the game despite the heroics of NBA and Greece superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had 27 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. Spain had a collective team effort led by Memphis Grizzly Santi Aldama with 19 points while veteran duo Sergio Llull and Rudy Fernandez gave Spain a boost off the bench, scoring 23 points amongst themselves. The win by Spain was crucial in Group A as they now strengthen their claim to earn a quarterfinal spot.&nbsp;
France 94, Japan 90
France narrowly escaped Japan, 94-90, following a huge scare throughout the second half. Riding on the momentum brought by pint-sized point guard Yuki Kawamura, the Japanese stormed to a second half lead over the hosts. Lakers forward Rui Hachimura also played well for Japan, scoring 24 points, however was ejected on a controversial unsportsmanlike foul call. Japan led by 4 with under a minute to go before Matthew Strazel saved Les Bleus on a huge 4-point play (albeit being controversial) to send the game into overtime. From then on, French phenom Victor Wembanyama took over the game on both ends to save France from embarrassment and lead them to the victory.
Germany 86, Brazil 73
Germany made quick work of Brazil, never wasting time in defeating them. The reigning FIBA World Cup champions led from start to finish and dominated the game on both ends. Although Brazil took the lead briefly in the 2nd quarter, that was as close as they could get as Germany displayed the poise and consistency they have been playing for the past year to take back the lead and never looked back again. 4 players scored in double figures for the Germans in a team effort, led by Dennis Schroder&rsquo;s 20 followed by Franz Wagner&rsquo;s 17.
Canada 93, Australia 83
Canada disposed of Australia after trailing at halftime, taking over the game and in effect taking the top spot in Group A, the group of death in this year&rsquo;s Olympic Games. Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was ultra-efficient for the Canadians, scoring 16 points on 8/10 shooting while RJ Barrett led Canada in scoring with 24 points. SGA&rsquo;s former teammate Josh Giddey starred for the Boomers with 19 points but was not able to sustain the lead all game long as they succumbed to Canada&rsquo;s pesky perimeter defense in the second half. Australia is now in danger of missing the quarterfinals all along with Spain&rsquo;s huge win over Greece.&nbsp;
Serbia 107, Puerto Rico 66
After suffering a blowout defeat to tournament favorites USA the other day, Serbia vented its ire on Puerto Rico and handed them a blowout of their own, 107-66. Serbia took care of business from start to finish, never letting up for a single moment. NBA MVP Nikola Jokic was splendid for the Serbians after he posted a near triple-double statline of 14 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 assists. Serbia will now go into their match against Puerto Rico with Group C&rsquo;s second place at stake while Puerto Rico drops out of the competition ahead of its game against Team USA.

The Paris 2024 Olympics Basketball Tournament is now underway and each of these teams has registered opening day victories after taking care of their scheduled matches. Here are the results thus far:

Australia beat Spain after a close game in the third quarter after Patty Mills made a clutch bucket in the 4th quarter to keep them at bay. NBA guards Josh Giddey and Dyson Daniels were splendid for the Boomers to get their first win in the &lsquo;Group of Death&rsquo;.
Germany 97, Japan 77
The Germans showed once again why they are the World Champions of Basketball as they displayed stellar continuity to take care of business against Japan. Dennis Schroder with the Wagner brothers led the way for Germany in their first win of the Olympics.
France 78, Brazil 66
France survived a challenge from Brazil early on with phenom Victor Wembanyama leading the way to claim the hosts&rsquo; first win.
Canada 86, Greece 79
All-NBAers Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo went on an insane duel in their Olympic debuts with SGA and Canada coming out on top over Greece in a hard-fought game.
South Sudan 90, Puerto Rico 79
Youngest country in the world South Sudan made history as they tallied their first-ever Olympic win in their first-ever Olympics, beating Puerto Rico which also happens to be searching for their first-ever Olympic win.
