Magic rally past Grizzlies in NBA Berlin game

In a landmark international matchup, the Orlando Magic overcame a big first-half deficit to defeat the Memphis Grizzlies 118-111 on Thursday in the NBA’s first regular-season game ever played in Germany. The contest, part of the NBA Berlin Game 2026, featured dramatic momentum swings and standout performances from Orlando’s stars.

Memphis jumped out to a 20-point lead early, dominating the opening minutes and forcing the Magic to play from behind. But Orlando tightened its defense and flipped the script, posting a 26-12 third-quarter run that turned the tide and set up the comeback victory.

Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Franz Wagner scored 18 points and grabbed nine boards in his return to the lineup after a long absence due to injury. German-born Wagner’s impact – along with contributions from Anthony Black (21 points) and the emotional return of Moritz Wagner – made this win especially memorable for the Magic on international soil.

For the Grizzlies, Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 30 points in the loss, but Memphis couldn’t sustain its early advantage and fell for the seventh time in nine games. The team also played without Ja Morant, who remained sidelined with a calf injury.
