Phoenix Suns finalizing 1-year deal with Elfrid Payton

The Phoenix Suns are nearing a one-year deal with Elfrid Payton, sources tell BasketballNews.com.

Last season, Payton started 63 games for the New York Knicks, averaging 10.1 points, 3.4 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 23.6 minutes per game. Payton will now be the Suns' third point guard behind Chris Paul and Cameron Payne.

Payton joins a loaded Suns roster fresh off an NBA Finals appearance as an insurance policy in case any injury were to occur in their guard rotation.

Previously playing with the Suns for 19 games after a trade-deadline acquisition in 2018, Payton started 19 games and averaged 11.8 points, 6.2 assists and 5.3 rebounds.
