Chris Paul intends to decline $44M player option this offseason

Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul intends to decline a player option worth $44.4 million this offseason, according to Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus.

Additionally, Paul could seek a new multi-year deal worth $100 million over the next three seasons. The future Hall of Famer tallied 16.4 points and 8.9 assists over 70 games with the Suns this year, playing a crucial role in both the franchise's resurgence and their current 3-2 postseason lead over the reigning champions.

The 36-year-old still has plenty to offer NBA teams and Paul will be a hot commodity should he enter free agency. Importantly, Pincus notes that it's unclear if the recent shoulder injury suffered against the Los Angeles Lakers will change his impending decision.
