Victor Wembanyama, Spurs Face Huge Setback as Knicks Fans Set to Take Over Frost Bank Center for Game 5

After losing at MSG in Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals, the San Antonio Spurs will finally return home as they head back to Frost Bank Center for Game 5. At least, that's what they'd like to believe. However, according to a recent revelation from ticketing platform TickPick, Texas could turn out to be a hostile environment for the Spurs.

X page Legion Hoops noted how basketball fans who bought tickets on TickPick are mostly from New York and New Jersey area codes, filling nearly half of the arena. Another X page, NBACentral, specified that 37% of ticket sales for Game 5 came from New York, while 8% is from New Jersey. Only 12% of the ticket purchases on TickPick are from Texas.

Having that said, Game 5 won't likely feel like a home game for the Spurs. However, this now brings up another huge concern. During Games 3 and 4 at Madison Square Garden, several Knicks fans were involved in altercations with Spurs supporters. In some incidents, fans wearing Spurs jerseys were reportedly confronted, a--aulted, and had their shirts ripped off.

Several arrests were made after Game 3. The NYPD did the best they could to maintain peace and order in the city. Unfortunately, the arrests didn't scare New Yorkers as they continued their unruly behavior after the events of Game 4. Knicks fans threw eggs at Victor Wembanyama upon his arrival at his hotel. There were also reports of more Spurs fans being a--aulted on Wednesday.

Keeping all that in mind, the worst-case scenario in Game 5 could be a brawl among fans in the arena. While we're not assuming that Spurs fans are as violent as Knicks fans, we also wouldn't be surprised if they retaliated in some form. Let's just hope that Saturday's game won't recreate the events of the Malice at the Palace in 2004.

Victor Wembanyama vows to come back stronger in Game 5

The New York Knicks did the unthinkable in Game 4. After trailing as much as 29 points, the Knicks successfully completed a comeback victory, setting the record as the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.

Throughout Wednesday's game, it appeared that Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs were in the Knicks' heads. Wembanyama was taunting some of his opponents while dominating the game. However, Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby had a second-half resurgence and destroyed the Spurs' spirit.

Wemby's 24 points and 13 rebounds weren't enough to beat Brunson's 36 points and Anunoby's 33 points. Known for being emotional under pressure, Wemby surprisingly kept his composure after the huge loss. In a postgame press conference interview, the Spurs star promised that his team would come back stronger in Game 5.

"What's going through my mind right now is gonna go one of two ways," Wembanyama said. "A bad one and a good one. The bad one would be giving up. The good one would be getting stronger through this, getting together, and this is what we're going to do."

Hopefully, Wembanyama can deliver on that promise. The towering Frenchman, once again, had a poor shooting performance in Game 4. He shot 25% from 3-point range and 36% overall. Wemby has proven that whenever he shoots the ball poorly, it leads to losses. With that in mind, Spurs fans better hope that Wembanyama remains consistent from the floor in Game 5.
