NBA Insider Called Out for Sharing Misleading Victor Wembanyama Clip Involving OG Anunoby

Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals ended with a bang after the New York Knicks completed a 29-point comeback over the San Antonio Spurs to extend their series lead to 3-1. Wednesday’s game was arguably the most physical we’ve seen between the two teams so far, with players going at each other and playing through heavy contact. Given the intensity of the game, dirty plays were bound to occur.

NBA insider Ian Begley noted how Victor Wembanyama allegedly attacked OG Anunoby from behind in the final few seconds of the first quarter. Begley uploaded a video of Wembanyama seemingly going at Anunoby with malice.

"It will be interesting to see if NBA’s standard game review addresses what Victor Wembanyama did here when moving towards OG Anunoby," Begley wrote on X.

A fan on social media called out Begley and pulled up footage of their own, proving Wembanyama's innocence. X user TigerFrog reposted a video uploaded by another X user, Michael Schettig, showing the broadcast camera angle of the play in question. From the broadcast angle, it's clear that Wembanyama didn't hit Anunoby and cleanly pushed him away from his teammate.

"He's just wrong," Schettig wrote. "That angle removes any sense of depth and makes it look like Wemby is a lot closer to OG's knee than he was. Broadcast angle, you can tell he wasn't remotely close to hitting his knee."

According to other sources, the league has already assessed the play between Wembanyama and Anunoby. The league determined that no retroactive flagrant foul or disciplinary action will be given to Wembanyama for his physical sequence with Anunoby. And that sure would have been a relief for the Spurs.

Victor Wembanyama remains calm under the pressure of getting eliminated from the NBA Finals

The New York Knicks set the record for the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history after managing a 107-106 victory in Game 4. New York was down by as much as 20+ points in the third quarter, making it look like the San Antonio Spurs had the game in the bag.

Unfortunately for the Spurs, Jalen Brunson and OG Anunoby took care of business, and each had a 30+ point game to seal the deal. Despite the shocking loss on Wednesday, Victor Wembanyama was surprisingly calm about the situation. Wemby has recently built a reputation for becoming too emotional in difficult situations.

During the postgame press conference, Wembanyama was asked what was running through his mind after losing in Game 4. While he could be upset deep down inside, he remained positive in the manner he answered.

"What's going through my mind right now is gonna go one of two ways," Wembanyama said. "A bad one and a good one. The bad one would be giving up. The good one would be getting stronger through this, getting together, and this is what we'll do."

Game 5 is set to take place on Saturday, June 13. The Spurs will have home court advantage once again, hopefully, giving them an edge to try and force a Game 6. Only one team in NBA Finals history has completed a 3-1 comeback, and that's the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers. It'll be interesting to see if Wembanyama will join LeBron James as one of the greats to rally his team from the ashes.
