Security Intervenes After Victor Wembanyama Receives Harsh Treatment From Knicks Fans

A mob of passionate New York Knicks fans was waiting for the San Antonio Spurs outside of their hotel. As the team's players disembarked from the bus, most were met with jeering, taunting, and generally hostile remarks.
However, a fan took it further against Victor Wembanyama. While his teammates were on the receiving end of a verbal onslaught, a fan decided to throw something at the French star.
He stopped to look in the general direction of the fan. Thankfully, though, security stepped in right on time, ushering the 2026 Defensive Player of the Year into the hotel.
Knicks fans are extremely hyped right now following the stunning results of Game 4. Early in the game, it looked like the Spurs were going to run away with the win.
They got hot and were draining almost every shot they looked at, while the Knicks struggled to get things going. The Spurs, riding the momentum of their Game 3 win, held a 76-49 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, they even widened that advantage to 29 points.
However, things started to turn sour for San Antonio midway through the third. They started forcing looks, which they kept missing, allowing the Knicks to come back.
Eventually, those mistakes came back to haunt Wemby and the Spurs. Late in the fourth, the Knicks finally managed to take their first lead of the game. After poor execution in the clutch from the visiting team, the Knicks completed what was the largest comeback in Finals history, winning 107-106.
Victor Wembanyama, early in the game, prematurely celebrated against Mitchell Robinson, tho, which could be a huge reason he's drawing so much ire from the Knicks fans.
Victor Wembanyama Prematurely Celebrated Against Mitchell Robinson
Early in the game, it almost looked like the Spurs found a way to frustrate the Knicks.
With under a minute to go in the first quarter, the 7-foot-4 star showed off his skills. He took Mitchell Robinson to the top of the arc, drove against him with some fancy handling, juked him with a half-spin, then hit a hookshot over him.
As they were racing down the floor for the next possession, Wemby decided to taunt his matchup. Robinson responded by shoving the Spurs center with his forearm. This prompted Wemby to keep taunting Robinson, telling him he was in his head.
The officials immediately stopped the game to review the play, which they ruled was a flagrant 1 call on Robinson.
Aside from this moment, Knicks fans have another reason to be mad at Wemby.
During Game 3, Wemby shoved Jalen Brunson hard, an unnecessary play many deemed dirty. However, the officials did not blow the whistle.
To add fuel to the fire, Wemby was also visibly laughing after the incident, as Brunson seemed to try to have words with him.
These two incidents continue to add to Wemby's reputation as a villain among Knicks fans. Aside from this, he is also considered the Spurs' on-court leader, which means he's meant to draw the most ire from opposing fan bases.
