The Miami Heat have a big summer ahead. After finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference and falling short in the Play-In Tournament, the franchise is expected to pursue several roster upgrades. The loudest rumor of them all has linked Miami with a potential move for two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Aside from that, they are planning to make other bold moves.

The Heat hold the 13th pick in the upcoming draft, and according to NBA insider Brian Windhorst, they are willing to trade it away. Interestingly, though, it may not end up in the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks at all.

"There are a couple of teams interested in moving their picks," Windhorst said per ESPN. "Miami has their number 13 pick on offer. It's on offer for Giannis, but it doesn't mean it will end up going to Milwaukee."

Windhorst reported on ESPN's Get Up! several days ago that the Bucks have yet to receive a trade offer for Giannis that they find appealing. If that's the case, Miami and Milwaukee could be exploring a multi-team deal in an effort to assemble a package that satisfies all parties involved.

In that scenario, the Heat's No. 13 pick could end up with a third team, while Milwaukee receives assets from that franchise. Alternatively, Miami may simply be gauging the market for the pick and exploring separate trade opportunities.

Some teams are looking to get younger or hit the reset button. The Heat could end up dealing that pick to one of those teams in exchange for aging stars or high-quality role players who could contribute to winning immediately.

Regardless of what ends up happening to that pick, the main priority for them remains acquiring Antetokounmpo. And the Greek Freak is even interested in moving to South Beach. ESPN reported earlier this month that Giannis “has focused on wanting to be a member of the Miami Heat.”

But for Miami, it won't be an easy move to pull off. It's not every day that a former champion and one of the league's best players becomes available, and with Giannis reportedly interested in staying in the Eastern Conference, several teams have joined the pursuit.

One franchise, in particular, has gained significant momentum and is quickly emerging as a new favorite in the saga.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Could End Up With the Boston Celtics

The Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics have developed a heated rivalry in recent years, fueled by several intense playoff battles. Miami famously defeated Boston in seven games to reach the 2023 NBA Finals, while the Celtics responded a year later with a 4-1 first-round series victory. Now, the next chapter of that rivalry may be decided off the court, with both franchises scrambling to get Giannis.

When the Celtics emerged as a potential destination for the Greek Freak, Jaylen Brown was named as the player around whom the package is built. But that may not be the case, with the Bucks planning something different for the future.

Many teams in the league are prioritizing long-term success over short-term gains at the moment, and the Bucks seem to be one of them. So, a direct Brown-Giannis swap — even though it could keep the Bucks in contention — is reportedly off the cards.

Initially, reports suggested that the Bucks were searching for a third team to help structure a potential Giannis trade, as they already own the No. 10 pick in this year's draft. That led to speculation that another franchise could enter the negotiations and absorb Jaylen Brown's contract as part of a larger multi-team deal.

Since then, though, the idea of a third team started getting ruled out.

Insider Marc Stein wrote that, now, the Bucks are considering a deal with Boston, even without a third team.

This doesn't necessarily mean that Brown will end up playing in Milwaukee next season, though. It could simply mean that the Bucks are willing to find a different landing spot for the 2024 Finals MVP themselves later on.

If the Bucks do shop him, there will likely be no shortage of suitors. He just played his best season yet, averaging 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists, all of which are new career bests or are tied with his previous career high.

Since the Bucks' goal is to start fresh, dealing Brown for young, elite prospects or more draft picks is a possibility.
