Temperatures and tempers are flaring at the NBA Summer League, with former Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro exchanging barbs and punches, a far cry from their steadfast seven-year friendship. Their pairing was broken after the Heat traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo and sent Herro to the Milwaukee Bucks.

NBA insider Shams Charania reported that the center confronted his former shooting guard hours before Miami faced the Bucks, leading to a physical altercation.

"Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro got into a physical altercation," Charania said on Friday. "Bam Adebayo struck Tyler Herro in the face area as they were walking off the practice court at a Las Vegas hotel. This happened when Bam Adebayo approached Tyler Herro about comments that Herro made on social media, critiquing Bam after Herro was traded from Miami to Milwaukee."

Charania then briefly discussed whether Herro suffered any facial injuries after his tussle with Adebayo.

"There's nothing, as far as I'm told, as far as an injury or a noticeable cut on Tyler Herro," Charania added. "But there was a strike to the face area. Now, we'll see how much the league, the players' union, and what involvement they're going to have here in the coming days."

Now set to suit up for the Bucks next season, there were leaks of Herro making negative comments about his former teammate, Adebayo. The leaked Instagram message showed Herro seemingly questioning Abebayo's ability as a player and his $160 million contract with the Miami Heat.

Herro, apparently, was talking to a fan on Instagram. Then screenshots of his comments regarding Adebayo were leaked after their conversation concluded.

Although shocking, there has been tension brewing in the background. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, numerous ex-Heat players were upset that Adebayo was exempt from trade talks and getting big contracts. Herro, on the other hand, was consistently involved in trade rumors before eventually exiting last month.

Yet despite his apparent discontent and altercation with Adebayo, Herro expressed nothing but gratitude towards the Miami Heat.

Tyler Herro Attempted to Downplay Tension With Bam Adebayo

During a live broadcast of the game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat at the NBA Summer League on Friday, Tyler Herro was in attendance. This allowed the media to seek his thoughts on getting traded and if there are any negative emotions between him and the Heat.

Despite his messages already getting leaked before his interview, Herro attempted to make light of the situation.

"It's all love in Miami," Herro said. "I've seen a couple of the guys, coaching staff, Cris Quinn, (Erik Spoelstra), and the front office guys. We're all good in Miami, and it's just an opportunity for both sides to reset and get a fresh start, and we're both super happy for this."

The media also sought Herro's thoughts on his scuffle with Bam Adebayo. However, the shooting guard made no further comments regarding the situation. His former teammate has yet to offer a statement following their heated scuffle.

It remains to be seen whether the two will be penalized for their actions. Similar cases, such as Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green punching Jordan Poole in 2022, have resulted in fines. As of writing, Adebayo and Herro are training with their teams at the Summer League.
