Since Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James entered free agency, he has been linked to the Golden State Warriors, and Warriors cornerstone player Stephen Curry recently made a bid to King James. And it seems like others are also supporting the bid for James.

Draymond Green reportedly declined his $27.7 million player option to give Golden State extra cap space for LeBron. Since the Warriors' attempt to trade for Anthony Davis fell through, the rumors of James joining them slowly died down. Curry, during an America Century Championship presser, shared how he and the Warriors have pitched the idea to LeBron.

"It’s kind of up to him. I feel like any place he’d call and say, ‘I want to play there,’ you’d move mountains to make it happen. I know we’re in that boat as well, so the pitch is we want to play good basketball, be around people that know how to play the game, hopefully raise our floor on our competitiveness this year."

While several fans want James to rejoin the Cleveland Cavaliers because of his storied history with them, the Warriors are currently among five frontrunners in the LeBron sweepstakes. The competition includes the Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Philadelphia 76ers. The Warriors finished the 2025 season 10th in the Western Conference, with a record of 37-45. James' skill will elevate the team, which missed the playoffs entirely last season.

With no clear frontrunner, Curry leaned into a shared passion: golf.

"There’s good golf in the Bay. We’re an organization that’s been there. He knows that, and that’s really self-explanatory. It’s just a matter of where he sees himself fitting, and at the end of the day, that’s up to him."

According to previous reports, James has tapped his agent, Rich Paul, to handle business while he continues to enjoy his vacation. While Paul may be looking at the top five teams, a certain NBA insider is convinced of where James will end up.

NBA Insider Claims LeBron James Joining the Cavs is Guaranteed

As LeBron James prepares for year 24 in the NBA, the biggest question on everyone's mind right now is where he intends to do so. James is the biggest free agent this summer, and there seems to be only one crowd favorite team.

One of the most rumored teams is the Cleveland Cavaliers. Many fans and analysts want to see LeBron go back to where it began. James started his career with the Cavs in 2003. He brought home a title for them in 2016. It's only fitting that the King would relinquish his throne in his hometown.

Having that in mind, NBA insider Bill Simmons believes that James has already cut out a deal with the Cavs. Simmons claims, on his podcast The Bill Simmons Podcast, that LeBron used the Golden State Warriors as leverage to force Cleveland to give him a better deal.

"The thing that happened to poor Golden State, I think they thought they were getting LeBron and potentially (Anthony Davis), and now it’s pretty clear they (Golden State) were being used as leverage as LeBron goes back to Cleveland... The Cleveland thing is done."

According to fellow insider Shams Charania, Cleveland guard Donovan Mitchell has helped the Cavs by signing an early 4-year extension contract. The established guard re-signing works to further secure the roster, hopefully attracting James further.

However, readers should still take this with a grain of salt. Until LeBron himself, or even Rich Paul, makes an announcement, we can't be sure which team he is going to join for next season.
