The Minnesota Timberwolves and starting point guard Mike Conley Jr. have agreed to a two-year contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal is reported to be $21 million, which will take Conley through the 2025-2026 season.
ANALYSIS: The 36-year-old point guard has been a vital piece to the Timberwolves this season, often being the stabilizer that keeps all of their pieces connected including young stars Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. Minnesota has a 37-13 record this season when Conley plays, and they are just 2-3 when he’s out.
On another note, this all but assures the team will be crossing the second apron. Minnesota has been one of the best teams in the NBA this season, but it has not come cheap, with contract extensions for Edwards and forward Jaden McDaniels set to kick in next season along with Towns' and Rudy Gobert’s gargantuan contracts.
