The East Asia Super League (EASL) has announced a landmark partnership with Mongolia’s top professional basketball league, ‘The League,’ as part of its continued expansion. Starting in the 2025-26 season, the reigning champion of the 2024-25 season will represent the Mongolian Basketball Association (MBA) in EASL, marking a historic moment for Mongolian basketball.
“This partnership represents a significant step forward for EASL as we bring together the best teams across Asia,” EASL stated. “The inclusion of Mongolia solidifies our mission to create the ultimate basketball competition in the region.”
With the addition of Mongolia, EASL will feature champion teams from leagues in the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong SAR, and Macau SAR. This expansion further strengthens EASL’s reputation as the premier platform for top-tier basketball in Asia. Additional announcements about more leagues joining for the 2025-26 season are expected soon.
Mongolia’s ‘The League,’ which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this season, comprises 10 competitive teams. Basketball is Mongolia’s most popular sport, with over half the population identifying as fans. The league has experienced rapid growth in recent years, setting the stage for its debut on the EASL platform.
This partnership not only showcases the rising prominence of Mongolian basketball but also underscores EASL’s commitment to uniting the region’s basketball powerhouses.
