ANALYSIS: The case is a pivotal one for the future of college sports and athletes' ability to make money while at school. Essentially, the court says that the NCAA cannot violate antitrust laws and keep its athlete from earning financial compensation.

As McCann says, "This is not the end of amateurism, but it chips away at core aspects of it and sets precedent that the NCAA is not special and is subject to normal applications federal antitrust law."
