PJ Tucker opts out of contract, will weigh free-agency options

Miami Heat forward PJ Tucker will opt out of his $7.4 million player option for the 2022-23 season and enter free agency, sources tell The Athletic's Shams Charania.

"Several championship contending teams are expected to compete for Tucker," Charania adds.

After winning a title with the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2020-21 season, Tucker joined the Miami Heat last offseason. This year, he averaged 7.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists with the Heat, who lost to the Boston Celtics in seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Even though Tucker is 37 years old, he's viewed as one of the better perimeter defenders in the NBA, so he'll have no trouble attracting suitors.
