ANALYSIS: The NBA trade deadline usually takes place a week before All-Star weekend sometime in early February, but with the season starting in late December a March deadline makes plenty sense. This will mean the All-Star break which is scheduled for March 5th-10th will actually take place before the trade deadline this year. The NBA is also targeting April 9th as the date for players to be waived by teams and be eligible to join postseason rosters.
