NBA to honor the late Kobe Bryant at All-Star Game again

The NBA announced that they will again honor the late Kobe Bryant at the All-Star Game in Atlanta by incorporating 24 points into the calculation of the final target score. This was the same format used during the 2020 NBA All-Star Game, which turned out to be one the more competitive All-Star Game's we've seen.

For those who may need a quick refresher on how the winner of the All-Star Game will be determined, here is a quick reminder:

After the first three quarters of play, a target score will be determined by adding 24 points to whichever team has the most points at the end of third quarter. For example, last year, Team Giannis led Team LeBron 133-124 at the end of three, so a target score of 157 was determined (133 + 24). Team Giannis needed to score 24 points to win, while Team LeBron needed 33 points to win. Team LeBron ended up reaching the target score of 157 before Team Giannis, ending the game. There is no game clock in the fourth quarter, just a shot clock, so whichever team meets the target score first will be crowned winner of the All-Star Game.

The All-Star Game will be held on on March 7.
