Pistons to waive and stretch Zhaire Smith

The Detroit Pistons have elected to waive and stretch the contract of guard Zhaire Smith, who was recently acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia 76ers for Tony Bradley.

ANALYSIS: Smith was picked 16th in the 2018 NBA Draft, but the young guard has yet to find his footing as a pro due to injuries and a mysterious allergic reaction he dealt with as a rookie. The 21-year-old has played just 143 total minutes in the NBA, all with the Sixers. In 2019-20 with the Blue Coats, Smith averaged 13.5 points per game. Some team should find him intriguing as a young, athletic piece if Smith can stay healthy.
