“I Thought It Was Like a YouTube Channel”: Giannis Antetokounmpo Reveals Hilarious First Interaction With IShowSpeed

Darren Jason Watkins Jr., better known as 'iShowSpeed,' is one of the most well-known Twitch Streamers. Because of that popularity, he's had the chance to collaborate with other famous stars, including Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant. As it turns out, though, Giannis was not familiar with his work when he appeared on Speed's stream. While he knew he was collaborating with an internet celebrity, he was not exactly aware of the nature of Speed's work.

The Greek Freak shared this during Marlon's Twitch livestream, where he had him as a guest. Marlon ran into Giannis at the PlayStation House's 'The Game Before The Game' event for the UEFA Champions League. When Marlon approached the Greek superstar, he told him not to say anything too crazy because they were live, with no cuts. Giannis acknowledged that he was now aware of this after his experience with Speed.

"Last time I went to a stream, I said some things," Giannis shared with Marlon. "I was with Speed. But I didn't know he was live. I thought it was like a YouTube channel," he added.

This prompted Marlon to ask whether Speed had told him they were live.

According to Giannis, he was not initially informed that they were live. When Speed approached him with the camera, he said that he just acted like himself, talking with Speed about random things.

Later on, Giannis became curious about how fans knew exactly where they were. This led him to ask Speed how the fans were following them, and that was when he found out he was on a livestream.

Giannis later also admitted that, had he known at the time that it was a livestream, he might not have agreed to appear.

Later, Giannis also talked about the NBA with Marlon, sharing which teams they believe will win this year's Finals.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Picks New York Knicks to Win 2026 NBA Finals

The stage for the 2026 NBA Finals is almost set. On one side, there's the New York Knicks, who've been patiently waiting for their opponents. On the other hand, it's either the San Antonio Spurs or the OKC Thunder.

The Spurs and the Thunder will have a 'win-or-go-home' Game 7 battle on Saturday to decide who'll take on the Knicks. After that game, it's on to the Finals to crown this year's champion.

Even though their opponents haven't been decided, Giannis Antetokounmpo is already confident they'll emerge as champions. The Greek Freak sparked the conversation when he asked Marlon who he thinks will win the Finals.

Marlon said he thinks the Knicks will win, while also predicting the Spurs will win in the West. Giannis then agreed with him on his take regarding the Western Conference Finals.

Marlon then asked Giannis for his opinion on who'll win the Finals.

"I feel like the Knicks will win the whole thing," Giannis replied. "In basketball there's like momentum. They've won like 11 in a row. And you know the city just rallies behind them."

Regardless of who wins Game 7 between the Spurs and the Thunder, the NBA Finals begin on June 3.
