"Take Your Medicine": Chris Bosh Sends Warning to Victor Wembanyama Over Blood Clot Issue That Ended His Career

Victor Wembanyama is one of the youngest players in the NBA today. He recently finished his third season on a high note after leading the San Antonio Spurs to their first NBA Finals trip since 2014. Despite only being 22 years old, Wembanyama has already displayed plenty of greatness on the hardwood. The question now is: for how long can he keep it up?

Back in February 2025, Wembanyama had a health scare when he sustained a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. It was a type of blood clot that forced him to sit out for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. NBA legend Chris Bosh is one of the unfortunate players who was forced to retire early due to blood clots. As a result, Bosh issued a warning to Wemby.

"Take your medicine. Make sure that he's staying on top of his regimen to make sure that doesn't happen again because it only takes one more time," Bosh said in an exclusive interview with HoopsHype. "It happened one more time for me; it happened twice, and I couldn't play anymore."

"So I guess with him, just making sure he does everything necessary to keep that blood as thin as possible and take care of that body off the court," Bosh concluded.

In February 2015, Bosh suffered a pulmonary embolism. He returned in 2015-16 and played 53 games, but another blood clot in his leg in February 2016 ended his comeback and ultimately his career.

If Wembanyama isn't careful, he might encounter a similar fate to the NBA legend. What makes his situation scarier is the fact that the towering Frenchman already experienced a blood clot at such a young age. One more could end his career earlier than Bosh's.

Victor Wembanyama's First Signature Shoe Set to Launch Soon

On July 31 of this summer, NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Victor Wembanyama reworked his deal with Nike, signing a multi-year contract extension with the company. Apparently, his new contract included his first signature shoe, known as Wemby 1.

After Charania's report, Nike launched a teaser video of the Wemby 1. An alien's face inspires the San Antonio Spurs stars' logo.

As of this writing, there is no official release date for the Wemby 1. But sneaker expert websites shared that the statistic shows that signature shoes typically launch 18 to 24 months after announcement. With that in mind, we could be expecting Wembanyama's first signature sneaker to launch in January 2028.

However, given how popular the Spurs star is, his shoe could launch earlier. That's if Nike decides to prioritize production on his signature sneakers.
