NBA Champion Shows Concern for Stephen Curry After He Looked “Depressed” in Warriors Blowout Loss vs. Lakers

The 2026-27 NBA season is officially underway, and many teams have already played their season-opening games. One of those teams is the Golden State Warriors. On Wednesday, the Warriors faced the Los Angeles Lakers and took a massive loss to the Purple and Gold. Luka Doncic led the Lakers to a 127-105 victory.

Former NBA champion Kendrick Perkins couldn't help but notice how dampened Stephen Curry's spirit was throughout Wednesday's game. Perkins expressed his thoughts on the situation and called out the Warriors for being the root cause of Steph's emotions.

"(The Golden State Warriors) will be in the play in the tournament, hopefully," Perkins said on The Pat McAfee Show. "For the first time, I felt bad watching Steph last night. Every time they kept hitting him with the camera, it was showing how depressed he looked."

"By the way, where the hell is Draymond Green?" Perkins continued. "At this point, Steph needs you... You cannot afford to continue to waste Steph Curry's greatness. I said this before, and I'm going to say it again: Bob Myers always found a way to make sure that Steph Curry was contending for a championship. It's time for Mike Dunleavy Jr. to do his damn job."

True enough, looking at the box score, Curry was the only Warriors player who put in a real effort in trying to rack up points. Steph scored 23 points, with no other Warriors player hitting the 20-point mark. This could be a problem that the front office might need to address soon before Golden State ends up becoming a Play-In Tournament team again.

Lakers New Big Three Destroys Stephen Curry and Warriors

After a terrible offseason, failing to acquire stars to surround Stephen Curry with, the Golden State Warriors are now off to a terrible start in the 2026-27 season. This was due to the new Los Angeles Lakers trio of Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and Walker Kessler.

For the first time in eight years, the Lakers are operating without LeBron James as their captain. Doncic, the new face of the franchise, claimed the throne in LA masterfully after putting up 28 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. The moment he hit the half-court buzzer-beater over Yaxel Lendeborg in the second quarter, everyone knew that the Lakers were going to dominate.

Reaves, who is now the Lakers' second option, delivered on his new role. AR added 23 points, six assists, four rebounds, two steals, and one block. As for Kessler, who many believe was overpaid, proved his critics wrong. Kessler put up 26 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.

While we're yet to see how the Lakers will perform against top contenders in the Western Conference, Wednesday night's display is a game that could easily put the league on notice.
