NBA fans may finally get to see Chef Curry and The King play together in the league. Lakers legend LeBron James has finally entered free agency in 2026, and the Golden State Warriors expressed interest in acquiring him. We got a glimpse of what the duo would look like when they suited up for Team USA in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

However, it's been nearly a month since the Warriors tried recruiting the King. In a recent interview with Curry during the American Century Golf Championship, a reporter asked about where the Warriors are in terms of signing LeBron. Curry was not shy about giving a funny reply.

"I’d say more so I’m interested to just play golf with LeBron. We’ll handle the basketball stuff, but I want to see the golf LeBron free agent. He’s out here really grinding on the game. But I’m sure we obviously would love to play together. I mean, hopefully it happens. But he’s deserved the opportunity and the right to take his time with the decision."

James has been heavily connected to the Cleveland Cavaliers due to his history with the team. He began his NBA journey with them. But if James does end up with the Warriors, he will form a formidable trio with Curry and Draymond Green, who is expected to re-sign with the team.

With Curry's shooting, James' playmaking and scoring, combined with Green as the defensive anchor, the Warriors may have a legitimate title charge.

The rumors of James joining the Warriors have died down a little after their front office couldn't cut a deal with the Washington Wizards to trade for Anthony Davis.

Earlier this summer, a Curry-Davis-James-Green superteam seemed imminent. However, since Davis wasn't brought into the mix, it appears that James will still be looking at teams to join in the upcoming season.

NBA Insider Narrows LeBron James' Free Agency Options to Five Teams

While many are wondering which team LeBron James would ultimately play for, it seems that NBA insider Shams Charania has narrowed down his choices.

Despite James expressing that he'd be willing to play for any team that he saw fit, Charania reported that only five teams, at this point, have emerged as the King's top destinations.

"LeBron James and Rich Paul continue to sift through the leading contenders. That includes Golden State, Cleveland, Miami, Philadelphia, and Minnesota. What we do know is that James wants to be in a competitive, competing environment."

At 41 years old and after 23 seasons in the league, James is in no hurry to sign another contract. His primary goal is no longer a lucrative contract, but a holistic basketball experience, as Charania also elaborated.

"He wants to play meaningful basketball. I’m told there is no timetable. James does not appear to be in a rush. The last couple of weeks have been a lot of family, friends, and golf."

According to several previous reports, James has allowed Paul to do business for him. Paul has reportedly been in charge of talking to teams for his client. Until a promising deal and situation pops up for the King, it might be a while until we hear about his final decision.
