Warriors’ No.11 Draft Pick Yaxel Lendeborg Dominates vs. Cam Boozer’s Grizzlies To Win Summer League Championship

The 2026 NBA Summer League came to a close after the Golden State Warriors defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 94-90 on Sunday. The Warriors won the Summer League championship after an incredible performance by the No. 11 pick of the 2026 draft, Yaxel Lendeborg.

The No. 11 pick took on the No. 2 pick, Cam Boozer, in the championship. While many rooted for Boozer to win, Lendeborg shocked everyone with his gutsy performance. Yaxel put up a double-double performance with 21 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while shooting 50% from the field.

Lendeborg was named the 2026 NBA Summer League Championship MVP. While Summer League performances usually aren't accurate depictions of how one's performance would turn out in real NBA games, it's reassuring for the Warriors to know that their rookie has the potential to step up in big moments.

Despite coming in second place in the Summer League, Boozer also put up a solid performance on Sunday. Boozer added 19 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

Seeing how Lendeborg outperformed the No. 2 pick, the Warriors should be looking forward to having their rookie on board next season. With the Warriors now getting much older, Stephen Curry being 38 years old, and Draymond Green being 36 years old, it's time for Golden State to start investing in some young talent whom the two veterans can pass down the torch to.

Yaxel Lendeborg Shares How He Felt About Winning NBA Summer League MVP

Yaxel Lendeborg is one of the promising rookies heading into the 2026-27 season. Lendeborg recently proved how capable he is of leading his team to success after the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Summer League Championship.

Throughout the tournament, Lendeborg averaged 15.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, while shooting 43.5% from beyond the arc and 54.5% overall.

Yaxel made the most out of his opportunity to show what he's made of. During the championship game, Lendeborg outshone the No. 2 pick of the 2026 draft, Cam Boozer, and won the Summer League Champion MVP.

While his NBA career hasn't officially started yet, it appears that Lendeborg is already happy with how his time in the league is shaping up to be. Yaxel shared during a postgame interview how it felt for him to win the championship and the MVP award.

"It means a lot," Lendeborg said. "It comes from all the sacrifices, all the struggles to get to this point. Every game I play, I have something to prove to myself, to those who are doubting me, and to those who don't believe in me. I'm just very proud of this moment, and I'm glad we got to win this."

Yaxel then noted how he's excited to play for the Warriors' main roster this coming 2026-27 season. He promised Golden State fans that he will bring lots of energy and excitement into the game once he starts playing in his rookie season.
