Brian Windhorst Makes Bold LeBron James Claim While Stephen A. Smith Mocks Him

A superstar free agent caused a momentary buzz while he was addressing fans live at the Fanatics Fest. While talking about what he looked for in a franchise, he said he wanted to be with one that shared his mindset, such as "trusting the process."

Immediately, several people thought that he was alluding to joining the Philadelphia 76ers. He immediately shot that down, saying he'd been saying that sentence long before it was associated with the Sixers.

Despite James immediately telling people not to take his statement as a hint of anything, the speculation continued afterward. It even reached 'First Take' where Brian Windhorst had to clarify that James was not alluding to anything.

Shae Cornette, one of First Take's hosts, asked Windhorst if James was dropping a "breadcrumb" trail for people to follow. A notion that the Insider immediately shot down.

"No," Windhorst said outright. "I think all of us can appreciate on this show having to fill out hours of content without having much to say at times."

He pointed out that James had to do three different shows for three hours and had his mind set on giving not a single hint. Something that was the total opposite of what the fans expected, since they were hoping he would at least allude to something.

"I promise you, midway through a sentence in the middle of his third hour was not when he was dropping breadcrumbs," Windhorst added.

Despite that, the Philadelphia 76ers remain a realistic destination for LeBron James. Their core of Tyrese Maxey, VJ Edgecombe, and Joel Embiid, along with the addition of Jaylen Brown, makes them an ideal landing spot.

However, they are not the only ones. The Miami Heat and the Cleveland Cavaliers are competing against the Sixers for James, as both teams also have convincing arguments as to why the 41-year-old should sign there.

Then there are the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference, who can both make a case for being the ideal destination.

Wherever James chooses to sign, some people hope he does it quickly.

Stephen A. Smith Has Gotten Impatient With LeBron James

Stephen A. Smith will speak his mind, regardless of who is the center of the conversation.

LeBron James' free agency is the latest item in the outspoken commentator's crosshairs, who has become extremely critical of James for what he sees as a seemingly drawn-out decision-making process.

"LeBron James should start a new sitcom. It should be called 'The Indecision' because he can't make up his mind," Smith said.

Smith said that earlier, he came to James' defense because he personally believed that the four-time MVP already knew where he was going, but was waiting for the World Cup to conclude before announcing it.

Now that the World Cup is officially over, though, James still has not made an announcement.

There are probably several other people who cannot wait for James to finally announce his next destination, and none more prominent than Adam Silver.

The NBA Commissioner has admitted that the 2026-27 schedule has not yet been finalized, as the league is still waiting for James to commit to his next team.
