Malika Andrews Catches Jalen Brunson Off Guard With Larry O’Brien Trophy Revelation

Jalen Brunson is one step closer to winning an NBA championship. The New York Knicks took down the San Antonio Spurs, 105-95, in Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals. While the Spurs had home-court advantage, Brunson and company successfully fended off their adversaries.
Now up 1-0 in the finals, at least for now, all signs are pointing towards Brunson bringing home a title for the Knicks. However, sports journalist Malika Andrews revealed that she found out that Brunson doesn't want to be near the Larry O'Brien trophy, at least not yet. The Knicks star was shocked to learn how Andrews found out, but didn't want to give her a concrete answer as to why he stays away.
"How'd you hear about that?" Brunson asked Andrews when she revealed that she knew about him not wanting to be close to the trophy. "No comment," Brunson concluded with a smile, humorously keeping further information to himself.
Brunson put up a 30-point game on Wednesday to take down the Spurs. Helping him seal the deal was Karl-Anthony Towns, who put up a double-double performance with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
With momentum on their side, they have the opportunity to steal Game 2 in San Antonio. Doing so will put the Knicks at a huge advantage as they head back to New York in Games 3 and 4. Securing a 2-0 series lead on Friday will allow them to go for the sweep.
NBA Insider Reveals Jalen Brunson's Secret When Facing Victor Wembanyama
One of the biggest concerns for Jalen Brunson was whether he could go up against Victor Wembanyama. Brunson is known for his slashing, which should've been a disadvantage for him given that Wemby is protecting the paint.
However, Game 1 proved that Brunson could easily hover his shots over Wembanyama. Apparently, NBA insider Mark Medina reported that Brunson's trainer revealed the secret drill they practiced before facing the Spurs.
"I've talked with (Jalen Brunson's trainer)," Medina said. "They do this drill that he calls 'The Wemby' that he like holds this gigantic broom to try to block his shots, so that improves his arch. When he's going up against Wemby, it's like a normal workout routine."
Having that in mind, it's no wonder Wembanyama's presence didn't affect the Knicks star.
Now heading into Game 2, sports journalist Malika Andrews asked Brunson about what the Knicks plan to do to win Friday's game.
"There's going to be things that happen throughout a game where we can't control, but as long as we're on the same page and have each other's backs, we'll be able to make up for it," Brunson said.
Game 2 will remain in San Antonio on Friday. We'll have to wait and see if Wemby and company can redeem themselves or if Brunson and company can secure a 2-0 advantage in the series.
