One of the most legendary teams in NBA history is arguably the 2015–16 Cleveland Cavaliers. This is due to their historic 3–1 comeback in the 2016 NBA Finals, which made them the first team in NBA Finals history to overcome a 3–1 deficit and win the championship, defeating the Golden State Warriors. Despite 10 years having passed since their title-winning campaign, the brotherhood among the 2016 Cavaliers appears to remain as strong as ever.
LeBron James and several core members recently reunited in Europe to enjoy a luxurious vacation. A video of James reacting to J.R. Smith's golf swing went viral on social media after Smith hit an impressive shot.
"Hell yeah! Now that's a motherf**king shot n***a," James exclaimed after Smith's swing.
Other former Cavs players on the trip included Kevin Love, Tristan Thompson, Channing Frye, and Richard Jefferson. Sources suggest that the purpose of their vacation was to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their championship victory over the Warriors in 2016.
One notable name absent from the trip was none other than Kyrie Irving. While James may be recognized as the team's leader, Irving proved to be a leader in his own right for the Cavaliers. Throughout the 2016 Finals, Irving knocked down big shots that contributed to Cleveland's historic comeback.
However, rumors suggest that Irving ignored Smith's invitation. According to reports, JR created a group chat, inviting all the members of the 2016 Cavs. While some acknowledged the message and notified everyone about their availability, Irving "ghosted" everyone by not responding at all. Readers should take this with a grain of salt, though.
While that's that, one of the biggest questions on every basketball fan's mind right now is what's next for LeBron James?
NBA Insider suggests LeBron James and Kevin Love will reunite with the Lakers
After 23 years in the NBA, for the first time, LeBron James' future remains unclear. Many have speculated that he could retire, while others believe he could suit up for another team. James himself has kept his situation vague, as he is also unsure of what he wants to do this summer.
However, NBA insider Marc Spears recently reported that James is likely to re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers with Kevin Love in the mix. Spears shared that sources told him that James is leaning towards running it back with the Lakers. There are also rumors that LA could acquire Love, given that he's also a free agent this summer.
"I'm hearing that (LeBron James) is likely coming back," Spears said. "I am curious under this new Lakers regime (how much the salary) is, though. … Also, I'm hearing one of his old teammates in Cleveland, Kevin Love, could likely be joining the Lakers, too. … I can see those two guys being reunited there."
For now, everything remains to be seen. James has emphasized his desire to enjoy his vacation before making a decision. He previously stated on his podcast, Mind the Game, that he intends to reveal his decision by late June or early July.
