Insider Reveals Development on Blockbuster Kyrie Irving Trade Scenario

After missing the entire 2025-26 season, Kyrie Irving is finally making his comeback on the hardwood. This will be the first time we get to see what the duo of Irving and Cooper Flagg looks like. Throughout last season, the Dallas Mavericks have slowly reshaped their roster. Anthony Davis was the first to go, soon followed by Klay Thompson.

The question now is: is Kyrie the next to go? It's clear that the Mavericks are now fully investing their future in Flagg. But before fully surrounding the incoming sophomore with newer pieces, the Mavs want to see what Irving can do with him. With that in mind, Dallas currently has no plans to let their veteran guard go. However, NBA insider Jake Fischer still sees trade talks for Kyrie happening until the February deadline.

"Kyrie Irving trade scenarios are something we are going to be talking about between now and the February 11th trade deadline," Fischer reported on Bleacher Report.

Fischer then revealed that the Miami Heat, as early as now, are already interested in making a trade offer for Irving if they get the chance to. Aside from the Heat, Fischer expects other teams to join the fray until the deadline.

"There’s already been some rumblings of the Heat having interest in him," Fischer continued. "I think we’re gonna have plenty of teams interested in Kyrie Irving, especially when he comes back and showcases that he is fully healed from a torn ACL that kept him out for all of last season. That spot — Miami, with their point guard depth, is one of the early spots that people around the league are looking at as potential Kyrie Irving trade destinations."

At 34 years old, Irving is still a desirable player to have. In the 2024-25 season, before tearing his ACL, Kyrie averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.3 steals, while shooting 47.3% from the field. He's still an efficient point guard who can provide solid numbers across the board.

Kyrie Irving Shares Why He Wants to Stay in Dallas

Kyrie Irving has been with the Dallas Mavericks for four and a half years now. He was traded to the Mavs in the middle of the 2022-23 season, and hasn't looked back since. Irving has a history of asking for trades when he feels like it's no longer an ideal situation for him.

Despite trading Anthony Davis to the Washington Wizards and Klay Thompson to the Miami Heat, Kyrie has surprisingly expressed his desire to remain a Maverick. This might come off as weird behavior to some.

During an interview at one of the Mavs' practices last weekend, Irving shared why he's still sticking around Dallas.

"I’m not gonna shy away from saying it’s been a little chaotic at times, inside the locker room as well as outside," Irving told Mavs reporter Noah Weber.

"I’m in love with this place just because of how welcoming it was, not just from the franchise aspect but also the fans, a lot of support around the city," Irving added. "We’re building something… Having that championship mindset that whatever we face, we can deal with."

It's refreshing to see Irving maintain a positive attitude, especially given his history since he asked for a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics in 2017.

With Kyrie appearing to be committed to sticking around Dallas, it'll be interesting to see how he can help Cooper Flagg grow as a player this coming season.
