Jalen Brunson Makes Feelings Clear on LeBron James & Giannis Antetokounmpo's Statements

Jalen Brunson has reached the pinnacle of the NBA, leading the New York Knicks to the 2026 championship and earning Finals MVP honors, cementing his status as the league’s premier player.

Because of his recent success, he received a plethora of nods from several league legends. Even active legends like LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo showed their respect for Brunson. Having that in mind, reporters on the Knicks' media day were curious to know how Brunson felt about the attention he's received since winning the championship.

"I really do appreciate it; I respect the hell out of them," Brunson said after their first practice. "It's honestly really cool. It's a sign of respect, and to hear that from those guys, I really do appreciate it... It shows where I've grown, but still a lot of work to do."

The praise was especially notable because it came from two of the league’s biggest stars. LeBron James expressed “much respect” for the Knicks and called Brunson “unbelievable,” while Giannis Antetokounmpo went even further, declaring New York the NBA’s best team and Brunson one of the league’s best players.

Brunson and the Knicks will be put to the test next season. While they may be the defending champions, several of their Eastern Conference rivals have stacked up on talent.

For instance, Antetokounmpo is now playing for the Miami Heat and has formed a duo with Bam Adebayo. Then there's LeBron, who took his talents to the City of Brotherly Love, forming a superteam alongside Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey.

Having that in mind, despite the Knicks being the defending champions, they aren't the favorites to win the title in 2027. The question now is: can New York prove the league wrong once again?

The 2026 NBA Offseason has been a fruitful one, after witnessing a plethora of stars moving to different teams. While the majority of the league has reshaped its rosters, the New York Knicks are essentially the same team, with the addition of a couple of new players, like big man Andre Drummond.

Having that in mind, many are curious to know how exactly the Knicks intend to take on the 2026-27 season. During an interview with Jalen Brunson at the Knicks' media day press conference, the 2026 NBA Finals MVP related his championship experience to his approach to the upcoming season.

"Just about not being satisfied," Brunson said about what he learned from his championship experience. "I think that's the biggest takeaway moving forward. You still want to figure out how to grow as a person, as a player. I'll use that experience."

Last season, the Knicks defied all odds and won the championship. With tougher opponents heading into the season, all eyes are now on the defending champions, as everyone will be watching them to see if they can do it again.
