76ers Star Says It's "No Pressure" Playing Alongside LeBron James, Makes Clear Demand

For the first time in eight years, LeBron James will be playing for another NBA team. This time around, it'll be for the Philadelphia 76ers. Back in late July, James shockingly chose the City of Brotherly Love. It was a move nobody saw coming, especially after all the rumors of LeBron teaming up with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

Now part of the 76ers, it appears that James has already gotten to know some of his new teammates, especially the main core of Jaylen Brown, VJ Edgecombe, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey. Earlier this summer, James had a training session with Brown and Maxey. Now that training camp has begun, Edgecombe has finally gotten to work on his game with the King by his side. Despite LeBron's presence, Edgecombe shared that he's unfazed and has already made demands of him.

"I told him, like, if we have a possession, I'd be like, 'Yo! Bron! We've got to switch that. We got to do that.' You know what I'm saying?" Edgecombe shared in an interview reposted on X after their first practice together. "We're holding each other accountable. We're teammates now. It's no pressure playing alongside him; it's fun."

Knowing James, he's always been a more lenient leader than Michael Jordan or the late Kobe Bryant. Jordan and Bryant are notorious for giving tough love to their teammates during practice. They didn't care if their teammates' feelings got hurt. They also didn't allow teammates who hadn't proven themselves to talk back to them.

Having that in mind, James' transition to Philly should be smooth for the team's original roster. Especially now that the Sixers have put LeBron in a supporting role and focused on setting up his new teammates, younger guys like Edgecombe will still have the chance to shine under the spotlight.

LeBron James Sets Expectations for 76ers

When LeBron James is on your team, one would automatically expect them to contend for a championship. It's no secret that LeBron is still chasing that fifth ring in his career. True enough, in his most recent interview at the Philadelphia 76ers' media day, James said he's still after another title and explained how he and his new teammates plan to achieve that goal.

"For me, I'm still in championship mode," James said on media day. "Even at year 24, I kind of put myself in a position where I always want to have the motivation to be able to compete for a championship."

"We're looking forward to the challenge, and obviously, nothing is given," James continued. "But we can put the work in. We’re very talented on paper, but we gotta take that paper to this floor right here, and put the work in and get better."

So far, the King has won championships in every team he's played for. With that in mind, many Philly fans are anticipating at least one title win for the Sixers during James' time with the team. Hopefully, two years is enough time for LeBron and his new teammates to accomplish that goal.
