Even Stephen Curry appears locked in on the 2026 World Cup Final. Currently, the international football competition is down to the last two matches: one to determine third place and one final game to decide who will be crowned the winner.

The final matchup features the defending champions, Argentina, taking on a squad determined to dethrone them: Spain. When asked who he thinks will ultimately come out on top as champions, Curry went with the current champions.

When ESPN reporter Katie Feeney asked who his pick for the World Cup was, he went with the team that had Lionel Messi.

"It's hard to go against Messi," Curry said. "Back-to-back, it seems fate is in their hands right now."

That single line summed up Curry’s feelings heading into Sunday’s clash at MetLife Stadium, where Argentina will face Spain for the title. Argentina are the defending champions, and Curry made it clear he’s siding with Messi’s squad.

If they win, they'll become only the third team to win back-to-back World Cup championships.

The first to do it was Italy, winning in 1934 and 1938. The feat was repeated by Brazil, winning consecutive championships in 1958 and 1962.

This opportunity also coincides with what may be Messi’s final World Cup run. At 39, he has already tied France’s Kylian Mbappe with 8 goals and sits second in assists with 4, only behind France's Michael Olise's 5, defying age and turning back the clock. With the tournament held only once every four years, it’s unlikely he’ll still be competing at 43.

Against Egypt in the Round of 16, they were still trailing 2-0 at the 78th minute. They finally scored a goal at 79' courtesy of Cristian Romero, and that opened the floodgates as Messi would score the equalizer at 83', and midfielder Enzo Fernandez would score the winning goal in stoppage time.

Against England in the semifinals, Argentina was still down 1-0 with the clock winding down. After a series of substitutions by manager Lionel Scaloni, they finally tied the game after an Enzo Fernández goal in the 85th minute.

They would win the game on a header from forward Lautaro Martinez in stoppage time, which was delivered via a cross by a Messi assist.

Spain, meanwhile, enters the final with one of the tournament’s most disciplined defenses. Argentina’s resilience in late-game comebacks will be tested against Spain’s ability to shut opponents down.

Alongside Messi, there is another legend whose name has been in the news constantly. LeBron James, the 41-year-old legend, has entered free agency, and which will be his next team is quite like the talk of the country.

Will the fans finally get to see LeBron James and Stephen Curry pair up this summer? That's the question in many people's minds, and this year certainly feels like the last chance for it to happen.

James will turn 42 in December, and Curry turned 38 in March. It's safe to say that they are both in the twilight of their respective careers, so the Golden State Warriors star has gone all in on trying to team up with James.

During an appearance on 'Good Morning America,' Curry was given a chance to sway James on the idea of coming to the Warriors.

"[In] the Bay, we know how to win, beautiful weather, great golf," Curry said on the show, Good Morning America.

He then alluded to pairing up as the right way to finish a career, which drew amused reactions from the show's hosts.

The Warriors are currently considered the favorites to land the 4-time NBA Champion, especially after Draymond Green revealed that he shared his own recruitment pitch to James while they were on vacation.

However, the Warriors are facing tough competition to sign James, with the Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers also considered highly likely destinations.
