Wherever LeBron James signs next, he's guaranteed to elevate their play. That’s why front offices across the league are scrambling to recruit him, but one star’s pitch stood out for being more playful than persuasive.
Anthony Edwards recently joined the chorus of voices trying to sway James. But unlike Stephen Curry or Draymond Green, Edwards didn’t deliver a full-blown recruitment speech. Instead, his “message” was sparked by something completely off the court: a trading card.
While being presented with a set of basketball trading cards, Edwards came across a rare LeBron card. He smiled and delivered his pitch, saying, "Bron Bron, come to Minnesota, we got your card, man."
The four-time All-Star did not go into a spiel about how they can win a title. He did not even try to convince him by outlining what's great about playing in Minnesota. He simply said James should sign with his team because they have his trading card.
Perhaps Edwards didn't need to go into a full-blown recruitment speech, though. It's safe to assume that James and his camp have conducted extensive research and carefully considered his possible destinations.
Even the fans know that the Wolves are shaping up to be a powerhouse team after acquiring LaMelo Ball via a blockbuster trade this summer.
Alongside Ball and Edwards, forward Jaden McDaniels and center Rudy Gobert anchor one of the NBA’s best defensive frontcourts.
On paper, inserting James into that lineup would instantly make Minnesota one of the most formidable teams in the league.
With everyone already thinking that, there's hardly any reason for Edwards to try to convince James with a long spiel. Still, a message from him would most definitely benefit the team in this particular pursuit.
Anthony Edwards Reportedly Has Not Sent a Serious Pitch to LeBron James
The Golden State Warriors have thrown nearly everything into recruiting LeBron James. Stephen Curry has shared his pitch, and Draymond Green confessed that he tried to sell the idea of coming to the Bay Area while they were vacationing together.
After that admission, the Warriors seemingly shot to the front of the line to sign James. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have remained as an outlier in this conversation.
Probably a part of the reason for that is that Anthony Edwards has not tried to recruit James, per sportswriter Brandon 'Scoop B' Robinson.
According to ScoopB, Robinson reported that Edwards has not tried to contact James. If he were to reach out, though, it could exponentially increase the Wolves' chances of signing James to a contract.
