Giannis Antetokounmpo-to-OKC Buzz Intensifies Following Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Honest Admission After Game 7

New Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors have begun swarming after the Oklahoma City Thunder fell to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. To everyone's surprise, the Thunder failed to defend their title this season. This year's finals will guarantee a new champion.
After OKC came up short against San Antonio in Game 7, the reigning season MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, was asked about what's next for his team. The media was curious to know if the Thunder organization has any offseason moves in store. However, SGA kept his silence and decided not to give any insights.
"I will give zero input," Gilgeous-Alexander said. "I will let Sam Presti, the greatest GM ever, do his job."
According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, the Thunder have saved up assets, which they can use to acquire another star like Antetokounmpo. The reason why Siegel suggested the idea was that Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks have publicly expressed their intentions to part ways this summer.
"The Thunder have been gathering future assets for years, and tonight proved it’s time to use them," Siegel reported on X. "Sam Presti and OKC have the perfect opportunity to move their draft picks this year and Chet Holmgren for Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason."
The Greek Freak is currently looking for a contending team to play with. OKC is, without a doubt, still a strong contender in the Western Conference. Pairing Antetokounmpo with the Thunder's young core could prove to be an imposing threat next season if the trade were to happen.
The Thunder could potentially have arguably the strongest slasher in the league today, paired up with one of the craftiest players in SGA. Two MVP-caliber players on one team could spell disaster for their adversaries.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Has Nothing But Love For Spurs Despite Game 7 Loss in WCF
The Oklahoma City Thunder's dominance has come to an end after the San Antonio Spurs dethroned them in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, 111-103. Despite securing the No. 1 seed in the West while sweeping the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers, the Spurs proved to be their kryptonite this season.
While it may be a heartbreaking loss for the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remained optimistic about the situation. In a postgame press conference interview, SGA showed respect to the Spurs and praised the hard work they put in to get to the finals this year.
"They’re young, talented, well-coached, play the right way, play together, seems like they like each other," Gilgeous-Alexander said. "They have the make-up, for sure. You don’t beat us without the make-up."
Despite the loss, Gilgeous-Alexander poured his heart out in Game 7. The reigning MVP put up 35 points, nine assists, four rebounds, three steals, and one block, while shooting 57.1% from the field. He outclassed everyone on both sides of the court. Unfortunately for him, it wasn't enough to rally his Thunder to victory.
