Oklahoma City Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti has been honored as the 2024–25 NBA Executive of the Year, marking his first time receiving the prestigious award.
Presti, who has led the Thunder's front office since 2007, was recognized for orchestrating a remarkable season that saw the team achieve a league-best 68–14 record, setting a franchise record and tying for the sixth-best in NBA history.
Under Presti's leadership, the Thunder not only dominated the regular season but also posted an unprecedented scoring differential of 12.9 points per game, the highest in NBA history. His strategic acquisitions, including the trade for defensive specialist Alex Caruso and the signings of Isaiah Hartenstein, Isaiah Joe, and Aaron Wiggins to long-term deals, were instrumental in transforming the Thunder into a formidable contender.
The Executive of the Year award is unique among NBA honors, as it is voted on by fellow executives from all 30 teams. Presti received 10 first-place votes and appeared on 22 of the 30 ballots, accumulating a total of 74 points. He edged out Cleveland Cavaliers' Koby Altman and Detroit Pistons' Trajan Langdon, who each garnered six first-place votes.
This recognition also marks the first time since 1994 that the franchise, formerly known as the Seattle SuperSonics, has had its top executive honored with this award. Presti's achievement underscores his long-standing reputation as one of the NBA's most astute and forward-thinking executives.
As the Thunder advance in the playoffs, Presti's strategic vision and leadership continue to be pivotal in shaping the team's success and future aspirations.
