On Wednesday, the WNBA announced that Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty and A'ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces were named the WNBA Players of the Month for July.
Stewart earned the Eastern Conference honors after leading the Liberty to a 9-2 record during the month of July, while averaging 24.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
On the season, Stewart has averaged 22.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 2.0 threes, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks, while shooting 46.2% from the field, 37.4% from three-point range and 85.3% from the free-throw line. New York is 20-6, which is the second-best record in the WNBA (trailing only Wilson's Aces).
Wilson earned the Western Conference honors after leading the Aces to a 9-1 record throughout July, while averaging 22.7 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.
This season, Wilson has averaged 20.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals, while shooting 55.0% from the field, 23.8% from three-point range and 78.2% from the free-throw line. The Aces have been virtually unstoppable this season, winning a WNBA-best 24 of 26 games thus far. Las Vegas is currently on a league-best eight-game winning streak.
The WNBA also announced that Tanisha Wright of the Atlanta Dream has won the league's Coach of the Month award for July. Coach Wright led the Dream to an 8-3 record throughout July. Atlanta is currently 14-12, which is the fifth-best record in the WNBA.
In addition, the league announced the WNBA Rookie of the Month: Diamond Miller of the Minnesota Lynx, who averaged 13.5 points and 4.0 rebounds while leading the Lynx to a 7-4 record during July.
