Warriors stars push for win-now trade, team interested in Bradley Beal

Some on the Golden State Warriors are watching closely the next move of Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal. Should he become available, he’s at the top of the offseason wishlist.

The Warriors’ trio of stars — Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson — have made it clear to management they want the franchise to focus on the pursuit of a championship, even to consider using their two lottery picks to get someone who can help immediately, sources confirmed. Warriors general manager Bob Myers said their goal this offseason is to add more of a veteran presence.

ANALYSIS: Of course, the big question is whether or not Beal is available. If he can be had, however, he would easily be the greatest possible upgrade for a Warriors squad that finished 39-33 and just missed out on the postseason after falling to the Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in game.

A duo of Curry and Beal, the NBA's two leading scorers this past season, would be a formidable offensive force against even the stingiest defenses. Thompson, if healthy, would then form a trio even more dynamic. Green's presence, meanwhile, would help cover for Beal's lacking on the defensive end.

Thompson II added that Damian Lillard was another Golden State target. But his public denial of a trade request calmed the trade waters, and "multiple sources said the Warriors don’t suspect Lillard would want to come to the Bay."

If the Warriors do push for Beal, they still do not want to "gut the roster" in any trade, per the story.
