Kawhi Leonard has surgery to repair partially torn ACL

Kawhi Leonard underwent surgery to repair a partially torn right ACL, the Los Angeles Clippers announced today.

During the playoffs, it was rumored that the Clippers feared an ACL injury, and this report seems to confirm why Leonard did not play the rest of the postseason. It is unclear the extent of the partial tear, but the Clippers say there is no recovery timetable at this time.

Leonard averaged 30.4 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.4 assists during the postseason. The injury happened during the Clippers' second-round matchup against the Utah Jazz. On the season, Leonard averaged 24.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game.

Leonard has a player option, meaning he could become an unrestricted free agent this offseason if he decides to opt out.
