Finland, Germany complete EuroBasket 2025 Final Four cast
The Final Four of EuroBasket 2025 is now set after Germany and Finland dispatched their respective opponents in the final two matchups of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in Riga.
After an intense quarterfinal round, four teams have risen above everyone else – some expected, others making history. Germany solidified its status as one of Europe’s elite, while Finland made a breakthrough by reaching the semis for the first time; while Greece and Turkey each leaned on star power and veteran leadership to return to the last four.
🇫🇮 Finland makes history
Finland’s 93-79 win over Georgia not only secured a semifinal berth but also marked the first time the Finnish men’s national team has made it this far in EuroBasket history.
Lauri Markkanen, who has been steadily building toward this moment, contributed 17 points and 6 rebounds along with 4 blocks, providing both offense and rim protection.
Meanwhile Mikael Jantunen led the scoring with 19 points including several crucial three-pointers that helped them pull away, especially early. Bench contributions were huge: Finland outscored Georgia’s bench by a wide margin. Though Georgia made a push in the third quarter, Finland’s ability to hit big shots and maintain composure down the stretch sealed their milestone.
🇩🇪 Germany survive Doncic masterclass
Germany, the defending FIBA World Cup champion, edged past Slovenia 99-91 in a thriller, in spite of a monumental 39-point performance from Luka Doncic.
Franz Wagner poured in 23 points, and Dennis Schröder added a timely 7 assists and leadership down the stretch, helping Germany respond when the momentum could have swung Slovenia’s way.
A dramatic half-court buzzer-beater by Tristan da Silva just before the end of the third quarter cut into Slovenia’s lead and galvanized the German side. From there, Germany tightened defensively and controlled the pace in the fourth. With this win, Germany advances to face the underdog Finland, a matchup that promises contrast: experience vs. hunger.
