The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently in an interesting predicament. Ever since Anthony Edwards was sidelined due to mandatory surgery on his knee, LaMelo Ball suddenly became the team's interim captain. Ball has been actively trying to work with his new teammates in the absence of his All-Star duo. But during the Wolves' game against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, Ball found himself telling off veteran Rudy Gobert.

A clip of LaMelo and Jonathan Kuminga yelling at Gobert went viral on social media. Rudy had a frustrated look on his face and didn't even bother looking at the two young stars. This led to a narrative that Gobert is fed up with his new teammates. However, in a recent interview with Wolves beat writer Andrew Dukowitz, the big man cleared the air and shared what was on his mind at the time.

"Sometimes people make an assumption, and it’s totally something different, with the angles and stuff," Gobert told Dukowitz. "There might be some of that. But I didn’t feel any animosity. There was some frustration, for sure. I was frustrated. They were frustrated."

"Those guys have been great," Gobert continued. "Communication has been good. I’ve really tried to help them, and also, when you have a frustrating night, sometimes there’s frustration. But I didn’t feel like there was any disrespect or anything like that. Just guys that want to win and try to help each other out."

It's going to be a long season, especially with Edwards out of the picture potentially for the next couple of months. The Wolves will need to find their chemistry with Ball as their captain in the meantime.

LaMelo Ball and Rudy Gobert Perform Poorly Against Warriors Amid Argument

The Golden State Warriors managed to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-114 on Wednesday. Stephen Curry exploded for a huge 44-point game to beat the Wolves in front of their home crowd.

Minnesota didn't have a response as the team's stars failed to answer Curry's scoring assault. LaMelo Ball and Rudy Gobert found themselves arguing on the bench, clearly frustrated with one another. Apparently, it was due to the rough day they had on Wednesday.

Ball struggled to knock down his shots, adding only eight points, eight assists, three rebounds, and one steal. Meanwhile, Gobert had a terrible game, putting up one point, four rebounds, and one steal.

Edwards' absence clearly took a toll on the Wolves. However, it doesn't mean that the team isn't talented. Gobert is still a Defensive Player of the Year-caliber player. Ball has the capacity to put up All-Star numbers. As for guys like Jonathan Kuminga and Jaden McDaniels, it's their time to step up in the absence of their star player.
