Nick Wright Shares Interesting LeBron James Observation From NBA’s Opening Night and Christmas Games Schedule

LeBron James is set to enter his 24th NBA season. After signing with the Philadelphia 76ers, everyone is now eagerly anticipating his debut with the team, especially given that he's formed a superteam yet again. Prior to his signing with the 76ers, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made it clear that he would prioritize James in marquee dates of the league's calendar. True enough, James is headlining both Opening Night and Christmas Day.

Having that in mind, sports analyst Nick Wright shared his observations about LeBron headlining both marquee dates. He believes that, despite the league's transition to a more modern era, he's still the face of the NBA.

"To me, what the league is telling us is they still look at LeBron James as the main attraction of their sport," Wright said on First Things First.

"The Knicks are going to open their title defense and drop the banner; it could be against the team they beat in the finals. It could be the finals we didn’t get against the Thunder, the last two champions," Wright added.

"Nope, we’re going to have LeBron in the building for that. On Christmas, they put LeBron’s return to LA in the most-viewed slot. So to me it’s noteworthy that that is what the league prioritized," Wright concluded.

It'll be interesting to see how James' new superteam fares against the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Knicks will have the opportunity to set the tone on opening night as the defending champions will be put to the test against James, Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey.

Meanwhile, the Lakers will also have the chance to show if they've become a better team with the King no longer leading them in LA come Christmas Day.

Sports Analyst Echoes Nick Wright's Observation of LeBron James

With the NBA schedule seemingly prioritizing LeBron James on marquee dates, other analysts have also noted what Nick Wright observed about the calendar: the King is still the face of the league.

Sports analyst Colin Cowherd recently compared James' move to the Philadelphia 76ers to Michael Jordan's move to the Washington Wizards in the early 2000s.

While many believe that Jordan is the greatest of all time, Cowherd noted that the league never prioritized him on marquee dates during his twilight years.

"When (Michel Jordan) got old ... usually they're just not as relevant," Cowherd noted. "The most amazing thing about LeBron James ... is that the NBA has released its schedule, and the NBA's first game is LeBron against the Knicks, and the Christmas Day is LeBron against his former team, the Lakers. They weren't putting Wizards games on when MJ was in Washington."

James is now set to dominate the Eastern Conference once again in his career. Given that he's teamed up with Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey, Bron and the 76ers are now anticipated to contend for the title this coming season.

Claiming victory on Opening Night against the New York Knicks would be a huge statement for the new Sixers superteam.
