LeBron James’ Emotional Moment With Son Bronny Almost Leaves Him in Tears

LeBron James is the longest-tenured NBA player in league history. Soon entering his 24th season, James has been in the league long enough to play through several eras. One of the biggest milestones in his career was playing alongside his eldest son, Bronny James, for the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron and Bronny became the first-ever father-son duo in league history to become teammates. Undoubtedly a special moment in both their lives and careers. However, it appears that LeBron still cherishes even the most mundane activities with Bronny. In his recent Instagram post, LeBron uploaded a video of himself golfing with his eldest son, while jotting down a heartwarming message.

"Can’t tell you how special times like these are for me being a dad," James wrote on Instagram. "S**t damn near had me in tears 🥺🥺 out there yesterday afternoon! Never had these moments growing up so it REALLY means EVERYTHING to me. LOVE BEING A DAD!"

Heading to the 2026-27 season, this'll be the first time Bronny won't be playing next to his father on the same team. Bronny still has two years remaining in his contract with the Lakers, including a team option in the 2027-28 season.

It'll be interesting to see how the Lakers will utilize him now that LeBron is no longer around. Bronny was often seen as a benchwarmer, given his lack of confidence to contribute on the floor. Many argue that the only reason Bronny gets minutes in official games is because of his dad.

While there's no denying that the arrival of Bronny James to the NBA was a huge milestone for LeBron James, there were those who hated the idea of the father-son duo uniting with the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a recent episode of The Basketball Show on YouTube, former NBA player Kwame Brown got candid about how LeBron's selfishness has ruined the careers of many of his teammates. He also noted that forcing Bronny to be drafted by the Lakers was the reason Dalton Knecht didn't shine as much as expected.

"If you look at the careers that (LeBron James) destroyed – Westbrook, all the various things before he even started," Brown said. "You got Dalton Knecht; because of (Bronny James), he didn’t get a chance to develop. And he comes there with Andrew Wiggins as the number one draft pick; they make up stories about him to trade him for Kevin Love."

At the end of the day, it's difficult to hate on the idea of a father wanting to play with his son in a league that both have dreamed of playing in. But now that LeBron is no longer with the Lakers, it'll be interesting to see how Bronny will carve his own path without his father's hand to hold.
