“Y’all Went to Bed?”: Draymond Green Calls Out ESPN Over Alleged Bias After Warriors vs. Heat Game

While the Golden State Warriors sent the Miami Heat home with a 120-100 upset this Thursday, the game looked pretty different for Draymond Green. But ESPN had the nerve to take those off-moments to Threads, which obviously warranted a reaction from Green, who is pretty famous for not holding back.

The broadcasting channel basically posted some highlights from the first four minutes of the game, where Green failed to guard Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Greek star made an unhesitating shot from beyond the arc, made some solid passes, and even attacked the basket despite Green’s nearby presence. ESPN captioned the video, “GIANNIS DID THIS ALL IN THE FIRST FOUR MINUTES”, with an on-video caption that read, “Giannis giving Draymond problems.”

But they definitely showed the bias pretty early on. Despite Miami’s 3-point lead in the first quarter, the Warriors took off their flight from the third quarter and never looked back. They dominated the second half, with Stephen Curry’s game-high 29 points and Green’s game-high 11 assists giving the team a soaring victory. ESPN got really quiet when it came to the Warriors, though. And as a clapback, Green reposted the aforementioned video, writing, “Y’all ain’t want to post anymore? Y’all went to bed? lol selective.”

Well, we can’t entirely blame ESPN either. Many assumed or wanted the Giannis-era Heat to be something it clearly hasn’t been. Although Antetokounmpo had 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists in that game and is averaging 27.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists this season, the team stands at a 3-6 record. Other key players like Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo continue to struggle as well. So, watching Antetokounmpo’s early-game dominance may have felt a bit too exciting.

But obviously, Green wasn’t letting it slide. And ESPN should’ve been careful before picking a bone with him, as something similar to this happened in the past as well.

In 2024, ESPN posted a snippet of Green’s postgame interview following a matchup between the Warriors and Timberwolves that ended in the Wolves’ favor. In that snippet, talking about the Western Conference standings, Green said that he doesn't “give a da** about the (Houston) Rockets.” ESPN used that as the highlight quote for their Instagram post.

To which the Warriors star retorted, “Why y'all ain't post the video of the whole conversation? Y'all should pay me for the amount of clickbait y'all post.”

History has a way of repeating itself, and clearly enough, the ESPN crew just haven’t been the best learners. However, they can try winning back the Golden State forward’s heart, unless he has another clapback ready for that too.
